Typical prices in Denmark

The prices below are indicative levels based on what Danish agencies and freelancers publish themselves. They cover very different solutions, so use them as reference points, not as the final answer.

  • Website on a subscription: from about DKK 130 to 1,300/mo, typically with no or a low setup fee.
  • Simple website as a one-time purchase: about DKK 5,000–15,000.
  • Professional website with custom design: about DKK 6,000–30,000.
  • Webshop: about DKK 15,000–80,000 depending on platform and integrations.
  • Hourly rates: freelancers about DKK 600–1,000/hr, agencies about DKK 900–1,500/hr.

What determines the price?

The biggest factor is whether the site is built from a template or designed from scratch. A unique design takes more hours of sketches, revisions and development. Next come the features: booking, login, a webshop and integrations with other systems raise the price because they have to be built and tested.

Content is often underestimated. If the agency has to write copy, take photos or move hundreds of pages from an old website, it becomes a significant part of the bill.

  • Template or unique design
  • Number of pages and languages
  • Features: booking, webshop, login, forms
  • Integrations: accounting, CRM, booking system
  • Copy, photos and content migration
  • SEO work beyond the technical foundation

The ongoing costs that aren’t on the quote

A website bought as a one-time purchase isn’t fully paid for once it’s delivered. It needs hosting, updates and monitoring. This is where many people find that the cheap option turns out to be expensive.

  • Hosting: from about DKK 75 to 400/mo for standard operation.
  • Domain: typically a few hundred kroner a year.
  • Licenses for premium themes and plugins that renew every year.
  • Updates to WordPress, themes and plugins — and fixes when an update goes wrong.
  • Backup and security, if not included in the hosting.
  • Hours for small changes when you can’t make them yourself.

Subscription or one-time purchase?

A subscription bundles building, hosting, operation and support into one fixed monthly price. You pay less up front and know exactly what it costs. A one-time purchase typically gives you more freedom and ownership from day one, but you have to handle operations yourself or pay for them separately.

The most important question with a subscription is what happens when you cancel. Can you take the site with you? Do you own the content and the domain? Read the terms before you sign.
