Can ChatGPT see your website?
We test whether ChatGPT's crawlers are allowed to and able to fetch your page, whether the content can be read without JavaScript, and whether the page is described well enough to be used as a source.
How ChatGPT finds websites
When ChatGPT searches the web, it uses the OAI-SearchBot crawler and, among other things, Bing's index. When a user asks ChatGPT to open a specific page, ChatGPT-User fetches it. If they're blocked in robots.txt or by a firewall, your page can't appear as a source.
GPTBot is something else
GPTBot is used to train OpenAI's models. You can block it and still show up in ChatGPT search. The test shows them separately so you can make the choice deliberately.
What the test can't promise
The test shows whether the technical basics are in place. Whether ChatGPT actually mentions you also depends on your content, who else writes about you, and what the user asks.
